To all those under-appreciated hardworking, all-for-nothing administrators, the stewards of the executives, committed to their jobs, with the burdens of the world upon their shoulders,preparing policies, cabinet papers, research papers, all for the betterment of the nation;
To all those enforcers, the bestions of justice, who work late until the wee hours, facing and dealing with all kinds of "demons" of the night, willing to sacrifice their flesh and blood to ensure the security of the nation;
To all those diplomats, voices of the nation, who persevere against all the challenges and the intricacies of international relations in ensuring that this beloved nation's voice is heard and its presence substantially felt ;
To all those trainers, the noble teachers, who lend a guiding hand to ensure that others will be able to walk without falter;
To all those officers, humble servants of the people, who give so much and receive so little, sacrificing much of their time going from point to point, from place to place, that they could even call the airport/R&R areas/port as their second home;
Fear not for no matter how the world sees us,
No matter how others look down upon us,
No matter how we are never been appreciated enough,
In the end all these does not truly matter,
In the end, it is God who gives the ultimate reward
for He is Most Just, Most Benevolent

I remembered once, upon a time, when somebody asked me my job designations. I told them, 'Penolong Setiausaha', they were shocked to hear that, confusing that title with a PA!!. They asked me again, why is it a degree holder like myself work to become a secretary..."penolong pulak tuu"... After much explaination, they realized that a 'Penolong Setiausaha' is at par with 'ADO' at district level. *Sigh*, what really bugs me is that, I have to explain that again and again to all non-government people.

Daeng: This is what I normally tell such friends.. There are all kind of "secretaries" in the ministry and we are definitely not the conventional ones who assist their bosses in taking calls, making coffee or copies, preparing briefs and what nots. Normally a Ministry is led by a Secretary-General, assisted by one or two Deputy Secretary-General(s). Next, come the Undersecretary, who sometimes are assisted by one or a few Deputy Undersecretary(ies). Followed by the Principal Assistant Secretaries and finally us - the Assistant Secretaries...
Of course, like you said - PTDs come in many forms - so, Assistant Secretaries are actually at par with Assistant District Officer - cuma tak glamer laa... Penolong Setiausaha only maa... our 'lucky' comrades at MITI & certain departments are called "Assistant Directors"... That sounds a lot better, kan?
I thought PSU or PP sounded better than my PSM: Pegawai Sistem Maklumat. Reading this, I'm thankful. Anyway, whoever said kerja gomen goyang kaki ya??
